BAFE registers fire alarm companies module by module, and not every company holds all four. We do, so one company is audited and responsible for your fire alarm from design to maintenance.

What makes a Nova fire alarm different
FireFind: see where the fire is
FireFind is our own fire location service for Ajax EN54 wireless systems, and we include it with the systems we install. When the alarm operates, it sends your keyholders a link to your building’s floor plan showing which detector has operated, and where the fire is spreading as more detectors operate.
It doesn’t replace your fire panel, alarm monitoring or a 999 call. It tells the people responding where to go.
Designs you can open on your phone
We draw every fire alarm design in our own software, NOVA System Designer: every detector, call point and sounder on your floor plan, with zones and cable routes. You get a link you can open on any device, and the same drawing becomes the as-fitted record of what we installed.
Every document you need to show compliance
Whoever installs your fire alarm, make sure you get the paperwork. With every new Nova installation you receive:
- Certificates of design, installation and commissioning
- An operation and maintenance manual and as-fitted drawings
- A wireless signal report, for wireless systems
- Our on-site Fire Safety Logbook
- Acceptance and agreed variations certificates
- A framed zone plan, mounted beside the control panel
Four questions to ask any fire alarm installer

Are you BAFE SP203-1 certified for the work?
Yes. We're BAFE SP203-1 Registered Organisation No. 303674 for all four modules — Design, Installation, Commissioning/Handover and Maintenance — third-party certificated by NSI. You can check any installer on the BAFE register, including us.
Will the design comply with BS 5839?
Yes. Non-domestic systems are designed to BS 5839-1:2025 and homes and HMOs to BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020, at the category your fire risk assessment sets. Any variation from the standard is agreed with you and written down.
Are design, installation, commissioning and certification included?
Yes, from one company. On completion you receive certificates of design, installation and commissioning, an operation and maintenance manual, as-fitted drawings, a wireless signal report for wireless systems, an on-site logbook, acceptance and agreed variations certificates, and a framed zone plan mounted beside the panel. What ongoing testing and maintenance do you offer?
Inspection and servicing about every six months to BS 5839-1:2025, a servicing certificate and logbook entry each visit, fault call-outs, and a 24/7 support line for contracted customers. How our servicing works.

Between us we have more than 50 years’ combined experience. The team holds SSSTS, Enhanced DBS checks, MOD site passes, IPAF and PASMA, so we can work in schools, care homes, construction sites and defence sites.

Our office, workshop and stores are at Shearway Business Park in Folkestone, close to junction 13 of the M20. Most of East Kent is within an hour’s drive, and much of it within 30 minutes.
Owner-led
Nova was founded in 2019 by Georgina (Georgie) Newland, our Managing Director. Ricky Shaw, our Technical Director, joined as a partner in 2021. When you call, you speak to the people who run the company.
