Remote CCTV monitoring for a self storage facility
A self storage facility in Folkestone wanted its site protected through the night without paying for a security guard and dog handler. We installed remotely monitored CCTV with colour images around the clock, audio recording, and built-in sirens and flashing lights.

The brief
Self storage sites hold other people’s belongings, often in quiet places, and are busiest when nobody is around. The facility needed the whole site watched at night, but an on-site security guard and dog handler is an expensive way to do it.
What we installed
- Remotely monitored cameras, so the site is watched without anyone on site.
- Colour images 24/7, so people and vehicles can be described clearly even at night.
- Audio recording, for a fuller record of what happened.
- Built-in sirens and flashing lights on the cameras, so intruders know they’ve been seen.
- Cameras on every elevation, with pairs on the corners covering both sides of each building.
The result
The facility is protected through the night at a fraction of the cost of a guard and dog handler, with cameras that both record and deter.

Questions
Can remote monitoring replace a security guard?
For many sites, yes. Remotely monitored cameras watch the whole site through the night, and the sirens and lights warn intruders off, for far less than the cost of a guard or dog handler on site.
Do the cameras see in colour at night?
Yes. These cameras give colour images 24 hours a day, which makes it much easier to describe people and vehicles.
Can the cameras warn people off?
Yes. Each camera has a built-in siren and flashing lights, so an intruder knows straight away they’ve been seen.
