General information, not advice
The guides, articles, answers, tables, examples, case studies and other content on this website are general information about fire and security systems. They aren’t professional advice, a design, a survey or a fire risk assessment for any particular building, and they don’t replace one. Every building is different. Before acting on anything you read here, get advice from a competent person who has seen your premises, such as a BAFE registered fire alarm company or a competent fire risk assessor.
British Standards, regulations and official guidance change, and they’re open to interpretation. We aim to keep the website accurate and up to date, but we don’t promise that any content is complete, accurate or current, or that it suits your circumstances. Always check the current edition of a standard or guidance document.
Free tools and calculators
Our free tools, including the fire alarm battery size calculator, give estimates for guidance only. Their results depend entirely on the figures you enter, which we don’t check. A result isn’t a design, a design certificate or professional advice, and mustn’t be relied on as one. The person responsible for the design must confirm any figures using the manufacturers’ data and the relevant standards. This applies to results shown on screen, printed, saved as a PDF or shared.

You use this website, its content and its tools at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nova Security Systems S.E. Ltd accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, cost, expense or claim, of any kind, arising from the use of, or reliance on, this website, its content or its tools, or from any error or omission in them. This includes direct, indirect and consequential loss, and loss of profit, business, contracts or data.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
When we survey, design, install, commission or maintain a system for you, our responsibilities are set out in our quotation and contract for that work, not on this website.
Prices, offers and descriptions
Anything on this website about prices, availability, products or what a service includes is a general description, not an offer. What we’ll do for you, and the price, are set out in our written quotation.

We link to other websites, such as BAFE, NSI, manufacturers and official guidance, for your information. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content.
