Access control and video entry for Cheriton Primary School
Cheriton Primary School in Folkestone wanted to know who is at the door before letting them in, and to know which staff are on site. We installed cloud-connected Akuvox access control and video entry, answered on Yealink phones, with no server to look after.

What the school needed
Two things: safeguarding, so nobody gets into the school without the office seeing and speaking to them first, and a reliable staff roll call, so the school knows which staff are on site.
It also needed a system the office could run easily, without a server PC in a cupboard to maintain and back up.
What we installed
- An Akuvox S535 touchscreen video intercom on the building entrance, and an Akuvox E12 video door station on the pedestrian gate post.
- Yealink IP phones on desks and walls. When a visitor calls, the phone shows the camera view, so staff can see and speak to them and open the door without leaving their desk. The same phones are the school’s everyday telephones.
- Akuvox A02 access readers for staff entry. Each member of staff has their own PIN and a Nova NFC fob, so every entry is recorded against a name, giving the school an up-to-date record of who is on site for roll call. A lost fob is switched off in minutes, and there are no keys to hand back when someone leaves.
- Cloud-connected, with no on-site server. Access control, video entry and phone calls work as one connected system, managed online.
