Every system for Motis Cheriton Truck Park

Motis’s new truck park at Cheriton, beside the Channel Tunnel terminal in Folkestone, needed security, life safety, a network and screens for drivers. We designed and installed all of it, including bespoke driver information displays with live crossing times, traffic and incidents.

The project

Motis Cheriton Truck Park gives HGV drivers secure parking, showers, food and a place to rest close to the Channel Tunnel terminal and the M20. Main contractor GPR Kent Ltd chose us to deliver the fire, security, network and AV systems for the new buildings, which we handed over in February 2026.

It was a chance to design and install all of our favourite technologies under one roof, on one network we designed for them.

We’ve since added MAV AiQ ANPR cameras for Motis’s M-PARK parking app: ANPR for Motis truck parking.

What we installed

  • Access control by Akuvox, with ASSA ABLOY locking supplied by KeyTrak. Access control
  • CCTV by Hikvision, recorded on site. CCTV
  • Fire alarm: a Kentec fire alarm system. Fire alarms
  • Aspirating smoke detection by Patol, which samples the air through pipework for very early warning of smoke.
  • Panic alarms with police response on an Orisec panel. Monitoring and police response
  • Public address from CIE Group, for announcements across the site.
  • AV over IP with Netvio 360 by Habitech, sending video to screens around the building, and BrightSign media players from JP-UK.
  • Network and WiFi: Ubiquiti switching and WiFi, with a WatchGuard firewall, in a tidy, labelled cabinet. WiFi and data networks
  • Bespoke driver information screens, designed and built by Nova (below).

Bespoke driver information screens

Drivers waiting at Cheriton want to know one thing: when they can cross, and how bad the roads are. So we designed and built Motis’s own driver information displays. They run on the screens in the reception and drivers’ lounge, in Motis branding, and update themselves around the clock.

  • Crossing times from Le Shuttle and the Port of Dover: departures, operators and vessels.
  • Live traffic: Google Maps traffic for Kent and a close-up of the approach to Dover.
  • Incidents on the motorways and trunk roads, from National Highways.
  • A live camera on the A20 at Dover, so drivers can see the queue for themselves.
  • Weather for today and tomorrow, and the time and date.

Everything is pulled in automatically from live sources, so Motis’s staff never have to update a screen by hand.

The network behind it

Every system on site runs over one network we designed: Ubiquiti switching and WiFi behind a WatchGuard firewall, with CCTV, access control, AV and business traffic kept apart.

Questions

Can you build a driver information screen like this for our site?

Yes. We design the screen around what your visitors need to know, pull in live data such as crossing times, traffic and incidents, and run it on reliable media players that look after themselves. Call us to talk it through.

Can one company really install all of these systems?

Yes. We install and maintain fire alarms, access control, CCTV, intruder and panic alarms, public address, networks and AV. One company means one design, one network and one point of contact when something needs attention.

Who looks after the systems now?

We do. We maintain what we install, and because the systems share one network we designed, most problems can be checked remotely before anyone travels.

Thanks to the whole team for getting this over the line, to all of our suppliers for their support, and to GPR Kent Ltd for choosing us to deliver the project.
