ANPR for Motis truck parking
Motis Ireland runs its truck parking on its own app, M-PARK, which depends on reading every number plate that arrives. We installed MAV Systems’ AiQ ANPR cameras, which read plates from 150 countries, and match rates are already far higher than the previous system.

The challenge
Motis Ireland has its own in-house parking system, M-PARK, and relies on robust ANPR data for a smooth operation. Trucks arrive from all over Europe through the Port of Dover, so the cameras have to read foreign plates as reliably as British ones, at all sorts of speeds, light levels and angles.
What we installed
- MAV Systems AiQ ANPR cameras on the entry and exit lanes, beside the barriers.
- Plates from 150 countries, read at different speeds, in daylight and darkness, and at awkward angles.
- Direct integration with M-PARK. The AiQ’s API made it easy for Motis’s app developers to take plate reads straight from the cameras.
The result
Match rates are already far higher than with the previous system, so trucks move through smoothly and M-PARK has the data it needs.
It was a pleasure to work with MAV Systems Limited, from the first enquiry to on-site support. A big thank you to Chris Shepherd, whose project support is second to none.
We also fitted out the rest of Motis’s Cheriton site: every system for Motis Cheriton Truck Park.

Questions
Can ANPR read foreign number plates?
Good ANPR cameras can. The MAV AiQ cameras we fitted for Motis read plates from 150 countries, which matters on a site where trucks arrive from all over Europe.
Can ANPR work with our own booking or parking software?
Yes. The AiQ has an API, so your software developers can take plate reads straight from the cameras, as Motis’s M-PARK app does.
Can ANPR open a barrier or gate?
Yes. Plates on an approved list can open a barrier or gate automatically, and every read is logged. Traffic barriers and ANPR
