Intruder and fire alarm monitoring form

Please complete this form so we can pass your details to our alarm receiving centre (ARC). Tap any ? for an explanation. It takes about five minutes.

1 About you
?
The person filling in this form.
?
So we can contact you about this form and confirm when monitoring is set up.
?
In case we need to check anything with you.
2 What should the monitoring centre do?
For each signal, choose what the alarm receiving centre (ARC) should do. We’ve filled in the most popular choices: alarms call the site and then your keyholders, and faults are emailed. Change any you like.
?
Call site, then keyholders: the ARC rings the site’s landline first, then your keyholders in order until one takes responsibility.
Call keyholders: straight to your keyholders.
Email only: an email to the address below, with no phone calls. Good for faults you don’t want to be woken for at night.
No action: the ARC logs it but doesn’t contact anyone. We still receive a daily summary of activations.
Intruder alarm
Intruder alarm
?
A detector has triggered while the alarm is set.
Confirmed intruder
Confirmed intruder
?
Two different detectors have triggered one after the other, which makes a real break-in much more likely. This is the signal police response to intruder alarms is based on.
Tamper alarm
Tamper alarm
?
Part of the system has been opened or interfered with, such as a detector, the panel or the bell box, or a cable has been cut.
Panic alarm (PA)
Panic alarm (PA)
?
Someone has pressed a panic (personal attack or hold-up) button. Treat it as urgent: someone may be in danger.
Fire alarm
Fire alarm
?
The fire alarm has operated, from a detector or a call point. Kent Fire and Rescue usually need a fire confirmed before they send crews, so make sure your keyholders know your fire procedure.
Zone omit
Zone omit
?
Part of the alarm was left switched off (omitted) when it was set. Usually for information only.
Power outage
Power outage
?
Mains power to the panel has failed and it’s running on its standby battery. Most people choose email, as power cuts are usually short, but a long one will eventually flatten the battery.
Signalling fault
Signalling fault
?
The panel can’t reach the alarm receiving centre, for example because the phone line, broadband or 4G connection has failed. Until it’s fixed, alarms may not get through.
Other system faults
Other system faults
?
Any other fault the panel reports, such as a low battery or a faulty detector.
Fire alarm fault
Fire alarm fault
?
A fault on the fire alarm, such as a disconnected detector, a cable fault or a battery fault. Part of the system may not work until it’s fixed, so faults should be dealt with promptly.
?
Where the ARC sends the signals you’ve set to “Email only”. It can be the same as your own email.
Police response
Police response
?
Only possible if it has been agreed with us and your system was designed and registered for it, with a police Unique Reference Number (URN). Choose No police response, or police response on panic alarms, on confirmed intruder alarms (two detectors in sequence), or both. Keyholders for a police response system usually need to be able to reach the site within 20 minutes.
3 The site
?
The name the ARC should use for the site, if it has one.
?
Where the alarm is, so the ARC and the emergency services go to the right place.
?
If the site has a landline, the ARC may ring it first to see whether someone there can explain the alarm.
?
A word the ARC will ask for when they ring, to check they’re speaking to someone allowed to deal with the alarm. Keep it simple, and don’t use a password you use anywhere else.
?
Anything the ARC should know, such as access arrangements, a gate code to pass on to keyholders, or times the site is staffed.
4 Keyholders
In priority order: the ARC calls them in this order until one accepts responsibility for the alarm. We recommend at least three keyholders, so someone can always be reached; at least one is required.
?
Keyholders are the people who can deal with an alarm: they should have keys and the alarm code, and be able to get to the site. Give mobile numbers where you can, and make sure each keyholder knows they’re on the list. With three or more, the ARC is far less likely to run out of people to call at night or on holiday.
