An Ajax EN54 wireless fire alarm for an HMO in Woolwich

Another HMO ready for licensing. In Woolwich, south-east London, we designed, installed and commissioned a Grade A, Category LD1 Ajax EN54 wireless fire alarm, with the work on site done in a single day and minimal disruption to the tenants.

In and out in a day

Wireless suits a building with tenants living in it. Ajax EN54 devices need no cables chased through walls or ceilings, so the system went in, was commissioned and was handed over in one visit, with full signal strength to every device across the building.

What we installed

  • An Ajax EN54 Fire Hub: a Grade A control panel, with the framed zone plan above it and the logbook cabinet below.
  • Wireless detectors to Category LD1, in the escape routes and every room where a fire could start.
  • Manual call points, each with a clear protective cover.
  • A cloud connection over the hub’s own cellular SIM, so faults and alarms are reported in real time.
  • Certification to BS 5839-6, with design and as-fitted drawings.

Handed over with everything the licence needs

Missing paperwork can hold up an HMO licence application. This handover, like every Nova fire alarm handover, included:

  • Certificates of design, installation and commissioning
  • Operation and maintenance manual
  • As-fitted drawings
  • Cause and effect matrix
  • Wireless signal report
  • On-site logbook
  • Acceptance certificate
  • Agreed variations certificate
  • Framed and mounted fire zone plan
  • BAFE Certificate of Compliance
