The Ajax EN54 range
Ajax’s EN54 line is a complete wireless fire system: the EN54 Fire Hub control panel, smoke, heat and multi-sensor detectors (some with built-in sounders), sounders and visual alarm devices, manual call points, a range extender and an input/output module for connecting other equipment.
We’re an Ajax installer, and we design every Ajax EN54 system to BS 5839-1:2025 like any other fire alarm, starting with a radio survey of the building. At handover you get a wireless signal report alongside the usual certificates.
Ajax for businesses, HMOs and flats
Businesses
Offices, shops, warehouses and industrial units, fitted with far less cabling, dust and noise, so you can keep trading while we work. At Fileder’s 54,000 sq ft warehouse, one range extender covered the whole building despite the metal racking.
HMOs and converted flats
No chasing walls in tenants’ rooms, so a system can go in with tenants in place or between tenancies. The Ajax EN54 Fire Hub is certified to EN 54-2 and EN 54-4, so the system can be designed as a Grade A system to BS 5839-6 where your licence asks for one. Fire alarms for HMOs.

Every new Ajax EN54 system we install can include FireFind, our own fire location service. When the alarm operates, keyholders get a link to the building’s floor plan showing which detector has operated, and where the fire is spreading as more detectors operate.
It works alongside your panel and alarm monitoring. It doesn’t replace them, or a 999 call.
Wireless fire alarm questions
Are wireless fire alarms reliable?
Yes, when they’re designed and installed properly. Radio devices must meet EN 54-25, which covers signal loss through the building, interference and loss of communication, and each device also meets its own part of EN 54. BS 5839-1:2025 has a dedicated clause on radio-linked systems. We carry out a radio survey before we install, and hand over a wireless signal report at commissioning.
Do the batteries need changing?
Yes, periodically. Ajax states device batteries last up to five years, and up to seven years in the call point. We check battery condition at every service and plan replacements, so you’re never caught out.
Is Ajax EN54 approved to BS 5839-1?
BS 5839-1 is a code of practice for designing, installing and maintaining systems, not a product approval. Ajax EN54 devices are certified to the relevant parts of EN 54, including EN 54-25 for radio, and we design, install and commission the system to BS 5839-1:2025.
Can wireless devices be added to our existing wired system?
Not usually to a different make of panel. The Ajax EN54 range works with its own hub, and its input/output module can pass signals to and from other equipment. We’ll look at your system and tell you what makes sense.
Is a wireless system cheaper?
Equipment usually costs more and installation usually costs less, because there’s far less cabling. Where both would suit your building, we can price both.

Can Ajax EN54 be used in an HMO?
Yes. The Ajax EN54 Fire Hub is certified to EN 54-2 and EN 54-4, the standards for control panels and their power supplies, so an Ajax EN54 system can be designed as a Grade A system to BS 5839-6, or to BS 5839-1 for communal areas, as your fire risk assessment and licence conditions require. Can an Ajax fire alarm be monitored?
Yes. The Fire Hub can send alarms to an alarm receiving centre over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or dual-SIM 4G, and keyholders can be told by the Ajax app. With FireFind, they also see which detector has operated on the building’s floor plan.
