ANPR, barriers and intercoms for Motis Dover

Motis Ireland runs its truck parks and customs clearance on its own app, M-PARK. After its Cheriton site, we fitted out the lanes at Motis’s Dover truck stop: two entry lanes and all-new exit lanes, with Hikvision ANPR, CAME Gard PX barriers and dual-sided intercoms.

The brief

Motis has developed its own parking application for truck parks and customs clearance, M-PARK by Motis, and has rolled it out at its Cheriton and Dover sites. Dover, the second of the two, needed its lanes built around it: every vehicle identified by its number plate, barriers controlled by the system, and an intercom within reach of every driver.

What we installed

  • Two entry lanes and all-new exit lanes, each with its own barrier.
  • Hikvision ANPR cameras with HikCentral, Hikvision’s management platform, reading number plates as vehicles arrive and leave.
  • CAME Gard PX barriers, with traffic lights to tell drivers when to go.
  • Dual-sided intercoms from Akuvox and CIE Group, on posts with heads at two heights, for cars and lorry cabs.
  • BEA EvoLoop vehicle detectors, so each barrier knows when a vehicle is in the lane.
  • An answering screen in the office, set up with shortcuts to M-PARK and the barriers.

The result

Every vehicle is identified by its plate as it arrives and leaves, the barriers work with M-PARK, and drivers can always reach the team from the lane. Motis is still developing M-PARK, so the system keeps growing.

We also fitted out every system at Motis Cheriton Truck Park, including MAV AiQ ANPR for M-PARK. More about car park barriers · intercoms

Questions

Can ANPR open barriers automatically?

Yes. A vehicle whose plate is on an approved list, or booked in through a system such as Motis’s M-PARK, can have the barrier raised automatically, and every read is logged. Car park barriers and ANPR

Why fit intercoms at two heights?

Because a lorry driver sits far higher than a car driver. Intercom heads at both heights mean every driver can reach one without getting out of the cab.

Can barriers and ANPR work with our own software?

Usually, yes. ANPR systems such as Hikvision’s HikCentral can pass plate reads and events to other software, which is how the Dover lanes work with Motis’s own M-PARK app.
